Perth’s Next Gen of Professional Orchestral Musicians

Banksia Ensemble was created by conductor Jen Winley in 2020 and will launch its first season in 2021.

Playing alongside established professionals, Banksia Ensemble strives to create high level musical opportunities for pre and early-career orchestral musicians.

As a flexible ensemble, Banksia’s projects range from small mixed ensemble to full chamber orchestra and will perform in a variety of venues, from the traditional to the experimental.

Banksia values audience engagement and aims to create performances that draw the audience into the music through imaginative and diverse programming, venues, and interaction. This includes Education audiences, with experiences for school-aged children being a priority.

In addition to core orchestral repertoire, Banksia is committed to including works by living and/or underrepresented composers in all public projects. Diversity is a core value of Banksia and the ensemble is committed to being a positive influence within the sphere of orchestral music.
